THE FRANK KENSINGTON
What many watch owners don’t know, is when your watch goes back to its brand company for repairs, those compromised vintage components that require replacing, are replaced with modern components – therefore, when you receive your watch back, it’s no longer truly vintage, or original to its date of manufacture.
Let’s put it this way: imagine sending your 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500 back to the manufacturer for repairs, only to realise your classic’s engine has been repaired with modern components. In short: your watch is no longer valuable to a decerning collector willing to pay anything for that special, all-original classic.
We have a sourcing and buying department that literally scours the globe in search of vintage (always original to the brand) components. This means, if you crack the hesalite screen on your 1968 Rolex Submariner 5513 – we will replace it with an original, vintage Rolex hesalite screen that’s accurate to the manufacture period of your watch.
